Series: Hope for Families in Hectic Times Sermon: What Wives Wish Their Husbands Knew Men and women are different in so many ways, and because of these differences, problems and misunderstandings often arise between a husband and wife. The following verse commands husbands to understand their wives by learning how she needs to be loved. "In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God's gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered." 1 Peter 3:7 (NLT) Below are five things women said they wish their husbands would do to show their love: 1. Be affectionate with her - Tell her you love her, compliment her, hold her hand, give her flowers, leave her love notes.
2. Be committed to the family - Spend time with your children, help around the house.
3. Talk to her and listen to her - Set aside time regularly just for the two of you to talk. Make it a priority.
4. Be the spiritual leader of the home - Husbands, you are commanded by God to lead your family. Your wife and children will gladly follow you when you lead in a Christ-like way.
5. Pursue her - Just because you married her doesn't mean you should stop pursuing her. Keep doing all those little things you did when you were dating to let your wife know she is still special to you.
IMPORTANT: Men, you are the only legitimate source of emotional intimacy for your wife. If you don't meet her need for emotional intimacy, you are forcing her to seek other ways to get that need met. QUESTION: In which of these 5 areas are you failing to meet your wife's emotional needs? (If you're not sure, ask her!) QUESTION: What steps will you to take this week to begin meeting her needs? PROMISE: Men, if you begin loving your wife in a Christ-like way, you will be amazed at the women your wife will become!
