We sometimes mistake religious performance for a relationship with God, convinced that if we just check enough boxes, we’re doing what He desires. The Pharisees kept all the rules, yet their hearts were far from Him. Jesus repeatedly crossed their man-made boundaries, not in rebellion, but to remind us that God cares more about what’s right than what’s merely religious. The world isn’t looking for people with all the answers; they want to see people who actually look like Jesus. May we have the courage to love like He does, even when the religious establishment won’t, because doing what’s right sometimes means breaking the rules.
The Fool and His Folly
Christians have had conversations for many years about Jesus Christ. In our generation today, as always, we need to clearly understand the truth. We need to understand who we are talking to when we are discussing Jesus Christ with unbelievers. We also need to know what assumptions they are making when they say things like; “All religions are basically the same”, “No one can know for sure”, “That’s just your interpretation”, and even “Belief in God isn’t rationale”. There are certain assumptions being made at the foundation of these arguments against the gospel. When we shed light on these falsely assumed foundations, the truth rings all the more clearer.
