Sermons about Idolatry

Don’t Stop Short of God’s Call

Date: April 28, 2019 | Speaker:

Growing up we were all taught the importance of finishing what we started. This is certainly good advice to live by, but it is even more important in our walk with God. Sometimes we leave things undone that God’s Word has already told us to do, simply because we don’t want to deal with them. We follow where God calls us, but only as long as we’re comfortable. A life lived this way will never see all that God has in store, but will, instead, have to be content with hearing the stories of great faith from those who chose not to settle for less.

Are You Really Depending on God?

Date: February 25, 2018 | Speaker:

When our refrigerators are stocked with food, our closets are full of clothes, and we receive a steady paycheck, it’s hard for us to believe that we are totally dependent on God to provide our daily needs. But the Bible reminds us that everything we have comes from Him. Remembering this is vital to maintaining a healthy dependence on Him and being content with what we have.

What Is Your Salvation Worth?

Date: February 5, 2017 | Speaker:

How much do you value your salvation? Did you know that your salvation is so glorious and so wonderful that the Old Testament prophets spent their lives trying to understand it all, and even angels long to know more about it! How would we live differently if we truly understood what our salvation was worth?

Satisfied In Christ

Date: June 19, 2016 | Speaker:

C.S Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity; “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world”. We have hopes, dreams, and expectations in life. But what happens when those dreams, hopes, and expectations aren’t fulfilled. Do we react like a 3 year old whose balloon just popped, or is there something better to ground us as we experience the ebbs and flows of life?

Forgetting God

Date: November 30, 2014 | Speaker:

The Bible tells us that the Israelites repeatedly forgot God, despite all the miracles they had seen, and despite all the blessings God had given to them. It’s easy for us to read that and say, “I would certainly never forget God!” Yet, if we take an honest look at our lives, the truth is, we forget God all the time in ways we might not even realize. Today’s message warns us of the subtle dangers of forgetfulness, and encourages us to give thanks to God for all His goodness to us.

Living By Faith – Pt.1

Date: April 6, 2014 | Speaker:

Paul continues in Gal. 2:20 to explain that the life he now lives, he lives by faith. What does it mean to live life, and how is it that Paul now lives it by faith. What is faith? When we say that Christians belong to “the faith” what is being said? What is it about living a Christian life that separates that life from anyone else? How do we live by faith?

I Died

Date: March 16, 2014 | Speaker:

Paul writes in his letter to the Galatians, “I have been crucified with Christ”. Is Paul speaking in code, or is he speaking clear truth? The questions that revolve around this are at the heart of the gospel. What took place on the cross, and what effect does it have on the life I am living today?

Idolatry or Worship?

Date: February 9, 2014 | Speaker:

When we look at other religions and cultures of the world, we recognize that they worship their god. For Christians, we know that their worship, whether image-worship or spirit-worship, is idolatrous because they are not worshiping the one true and living Holy God. Is their a difference in the worship aside from the object being worshiped? What is at the heart of idolatry?

Who is the God you know?

Date: September 29, 2013 | Speaker:

White light, shone through a glass prism, reveals all of the colors. Pure white light contains all of the colors; you do not have pure white light if you remove one of the colors or if they are out of balance. God’s attributes are like the colors in the color spectrum. If the God you know only consists of some of his attributes, do you really know who He is. You cannot accurately understand pure white light if you are missing certain colors, and you cannot accurately understand who God is, if you are missing certain attributes. If you do not know the God of “White Light”, do you actually know God … what’s stopping you?

Choose Whom You Will Serve

Date: September 22, 2013 | Speaker:

Nowadays when we go in for surgery, a surgeon is able to both examine a patient for problems and fix any problems he may find; as long as the patient agrees and signs the consent form. If the patient does not agree, the surgeon does not fix the problem. The Lord reveals sin in our life. If we do not consent to His removing of these sins, they will remain. A Christian must choose to serve the Lord and put away all forms of idolatry.

The Corruption of the Church, Part 2

Date: May 27, 2012 | Speaker:

Over the centuries, false doctrine has made its way into the church in many forms, and today there are millions of people being taught things that are absolutely untrue. Many people are told to pray to Mary, that she was sinless, that she is a co-savior with Christ, and even that she rose from the dead and ascended to heaven! How is it possible that churches can teach such things when there is not one verse in the entire Bible to verify these false claims? How did such lies make their way into the church, and what should our response be?

The Corruption of the Church, Part 1

Date: May 20, 2012 | Speaker:

When Jesus died on the cross, He opened the way for every believer to have direct access to God through Him. This new relationship was one of the foundational doctrines of the early church, but in 312 A.D. Emperor Constantine of Rome forced a system of lies into the church that completely distorted this biblical truth. Pastors were no longer seen as “Shepherds,” but were renamed Priests and wore visually intimidating robes to elevate themselves above the common man. Church members were falsely told that they now had to go through a Priest in order to reach God, and this began the corruption of the church which continues to this very day!
