There are basically two kinds of people: those who know they are sinners, and those who refuse to admit that they are. Some are so weighed down by their failures that they feel unworthy to come to Jesus. But they need to know that He came to lift up the fallen and restore the broken. Others don’t think they need forgiveness at all, and are kept away by pride. But the truth is, every one of us has sinned and stands in need of a Savior. And He has promised to receive all who come to Him by faith!

“be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18) is to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. This is a present continuous action and requires a believer to be (a) daily yielded to God, (b) daily in repentance with confession with godly sorrow, (c) daily allowing the word of God to richly indwell the inner man. Being controlled by the Holy Spirit empowers a believer (a) daily in spiritual battle (Spirit versus flesh) and, (b) daily in living out the person and character and conduct of Christ and in being obedient to the will of God.
