We all assume that if we were ever faced with the choice of standing up for Christ or being put to death, we would stand boldly in our faith without wavering. But would we? World War II exposed the stark contrast between Christians who turned a blind eye to evil and those like Dietrich Bonhoeffer who stood against it, even at the cost of their own lives. In Ezekiel’s time, God searched for one person willing to stand in the gap for Him, but He found no one! Instead, His people chose to go along with the wickedness around them. As our world continues to drift further away from God, Christians must consider their own response. Will you be the one to stand in the gap for God, even when it seems like no one else will?

Going Public with Your Faith

No parent enjoys disciplining their children. It grieves us when they sin and have to be corrected. Throughout history God has disciplined His wayward children in hopes of bringing them back to Him. They refused to listen, so eventually God had to give this heartbreaking conclusion: “You have not returned to me… now prepare to meet your God!” That is a sobering statement, and we all need to be prepared for that day! The Destructive Consequences of Our Sin

One little bug can’t harm a whole crop, but a swarm of locusts can devour and destroy an entire countryside in just minutes! We may not think that our “little” sins will ever harm anyone else, but the ripple effects might actually be felt for generations to come. The book of Joel describes a time when God’s people and their land suffered complete devastation as a result of their sin, and there was only one way to fix it. God called them to be genuinely brokenhearted, to repent of their sin, and to return to Him. If they did this, He promised to restore what they had lost and pour out His blessings upon them once again. Is He Enough?

God created a world to be enjoyed and filled by all creation. He fellowshipped with Adam and Eve every day, delighting most in their love for and dependence upon Him. However, Satan twisted the words and commands of God, and in so doing, deceived Adam and Eve into believing what God had provided, just wasn’t enough. As we look through key figures in God’s Word, we can see how the curse of sin is alive and well, wreaking havoc in the lives of God’s people; however, there are times the outcome of this great deception served as an agent of change for the unsuspecting… leading them to turn from their active rebellion against God and acknowledge, “He is Enough”.
