The Blessing of Being Humbled

Date: July 17, 2022 | Speaker:

The refining furnace that God sometimes puts us in is both necessary and beautiful. He places us there becauseβ€”simply putβ€”we need it. Being humbled tests us, proves us and drives us to God; and ultimately, anything that does that is a blessing! Don’t resent those times when God is breaking you of yourself. Thank Him for it and trust in His unfailing wisdom and goodness.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Prior to bringing this second sermon in the Unravel Part 4 series, pastor Phil was away for several months recovering from a heart attack and open-heart surgery. That is the reason for the time gap between the first and second sermon in this series.

You can watch the first sermon from Jonah chapter 1 entitled: “God’s Mercy in Our Failures” by clicking this link.

The Gifts of Christmas

The Gift of Salvation

Date: December 23, 2018 | Speaker:

You have probably received some strange gifts at different times in your life; things that ended up in a closet or in the attic because you simply had no use for them. But once in a while you get a gift that seems perfectly suited for you. When Jesus came into the world, He brought us the costliest, most thoughtful and most practical gift ever given β€” the gift of salvation. It is the one gift you cannot afford to live without, or die without! He is offering it to you today. Have you ever received it?

Our Source of Strength in Suffering

Date: April 9, 2017 | Speaker:

How do we face moments of suffering when we know that we simply do not have the strength or the wisdom to make it through? We must recognize that Christ has already provided everything we need for those moments, and it is by His power and righteousness that we can face whatever trials may come our way. Are you facing life’s difficulties in His strength or in yours?

Remembering God’s Blessings

Date: November 6, 2016 | Speaker:

Humans are forgetful by nature. We forget where we put our car keys, we forget birthdays, appointments, people’s names… but far too often we also forget God’s blessings to us. We either complain about what we don’t have or we become complacent with what we do have. The Bible instructs us to always remember God’s blessings and goodness to us, and to give Him thanks, regardless of our circumstances. How often do you remember?

The Cost of the Great Commission

Date: June 7, 2015 | Speaker:

Jesus made it unmistakably clear that it was impossible to follow Him without a cost. But too often we think of the ‘cost’ in terms of something that probably only applies to other people, not to us. This kind of thinking has caused the weight of the Great Commission to fall on the shoulders of a few, while the majority simply stand by and look on. The fact is, the mission of Christ will never be carried out without a high cost. Are you willing to be a part of it?

Comfort in the Promised Presence of God

Date: February 15, 2015 | Speaker:

A child who awakens in a dark room in the middle of the night is often gripped with fear, yet all it takes to comfort him is the presence of his father or mother. The same darkness is still there, but the child’s heart is now at rest simply because he is not alone. As we walk through the dark seasons of life, we are easily filled with fear. The one thing that will bring true peace and comfort into those situations is knowing that Jesus has promised to always be with us to the very end of the world!

The Unchanging God

Date: October 6, 2013 | Speaker:

Knowing that God doesn’t change, we understand that He is reliable, dependable, trustworthy, truthful. He is a rock; a cornerstone or foundation stone which secures a whole building. He will be our firm foundation for the trials and storms of life, we must simply be obedient. His attitude toward sin is always the same, his attitude toward a repentant sinner is always the same. We must live our lives in humble obedience to God.

Nothing Can Separate Us

Date: April 5, 2020 | Speaker:

Hard times and trials are inevitable, but how can we know for sure that our commitment to follow Christ will continue to stand firm through those hard times? What is it that we can count on to hold us steady when the storms begin to blow? The Bible gives us the answer in three simple words. Every believer should make these words the foundation of their life and faith. Without them, we will surely fall.

Resting in the Finished Work of Christ

Date: May 3, 2020 | Speaker:

How good do you have to be for God to let you into heaven? Well actually, you have to be absolutely perfect! That’s really bad news for all of us. Leviticus shows us the long list of standards that God requires, but it also shows us that Jesus met all those requirements on our behalf, so now all we have to do is believe on Him and rest in His finished work, and that’s the best news we could ever hear!

The Cure for the Curse of Sin

Every religion around the world has a list of different things a person has to do in order to get to heaven. Some have to pray a certain number of times every day, others have to chant mantras, while others have to perform a lifetime of good works. And yet, none of those things can make us right with God. There is only one way to know for sure that our sins are forgiven and that we will spend eternity in heaven. Are you sure you’ve received the right cure for sin?

But you do not need to be afraid, because the great news is that God is fully aware of Satan’s schemes, and He is already working behind the scenes to protect you and defeat the enemy. The plans of God cannot be destroyed by the evil one, and neither can you!
